Celaque
National Cloud Forest houses the highest point in Honduras, 2800mt (9,300 feet).
Home to many varieties of animals and birds including the famous Quetzal. Celaque
is located close to the village of Gracias, the former capital of Central America.
There is an old Spanish fort that overlooks the village and a natural hotspring
nearby.
Trip
Itinerary:
Day
1: Transport to Gracias from San Pedro Sula or
Copán, tour village of Gracias. Transport to Celaque Cloud Forest, overnight
in visitors center (two cabins, one contains 5 sets of bunks beds, kitchen, dining
area, and screened porch; there is a latrine and shower outside several yards
from cabins.) Dinner at the cabin.
 Day
2: Early morning wildlife watch and
hike on mountain. Breakfast and lunch at the cabin. After lunch visit hotspring
and head to Santa Rosa De Copán, a picturesque colonial village built on
a mountain top. The climate here is cool. Spend one night at the Hotel Elvir,
with fan, hot water,television, phone. Dinner in town. Day
3: Spend the morning exploring the
village, tour the cigar factory. Afternoon transport to SPS or Copán.
Rate includes: Alls meals beginning
with evening meal on day 1 and ending with lunch on day 3. All transport.
All camping and national park fees. We provide: camping equipment, cooking
utensils, purified water, first aid kit. What to bring: sleeping bag, good
hiking shoes, bug repellent, backpack. It
is possible to spend a second night in Celaque camping in tents or staying in
the cabins instead of visiting Santa Rosa De Copán or as an add-on to 3-day
